Paul Akhurst is an experienced facility manager who has worked in the UK, Australia and the Netherlands where he currently enjoys life. Paul has successfully led facility management teams in pre-eminent public buildings including Sydney Opera House, CarriageWorks Performing Arts Centre, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Arts Centre Melbourne and Perth Arena. His achievements include preparing strategic asset management plans, building conservation, team building, and leading BIM and CMMS implementation projects. Paul has researched and published in the areas of building conservation and BIM for FM, the latter with Curtin University's Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre. Most recently he completed a contract as an FM advisor preparing strategic asset management plans for NWO-I (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research).
Paul is active member of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) and the Facility Management Association of Australia (FMA), and a certified member of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (CIWFM). He is involved in the development of education programmes with both IFMA and the FMA. He was awarded ‘FMA Member of the Year’ for leadership in education and professional development.
Paul describes himself as: 'curious and tenacious, committed to excellence, integrity, innovation and the development of FM as a profession'. Paul is available on a permanent or contract basis to use his skills as a leader and manager to solve problems and develop people.
